Intuitive and Effective Security
Identity Manager is the most secure ID badge software on the market with automatic activation/deactivation of credentials based on information from your database. Badges activated in Identity Manager are assigned to specific users within the database by assigning ID numbers to each employee. New cards are activated during the print process when the ID number associated with that user is encoded to the card. This number is used with all BadgePass applications for access control, time clocking, tracking, and more. Now, let’s assume an employee has lost their card and see what impact Identity Manager might have.
Without Identity Manager
In most credential management systems, different aspects like access control and time clocking may be controlled by various third-party software programs, requiring the employee to ensure that their old card is deactivated within each department and that their new card is activated. Should the employee forget to notify the various departments, such as access control or computer access, the company now has the liability of a key to the facility and information floating around. This is known as credential overflow, and can happen when a single user has more than one card active at a time. The process of issuing a new card with a standard management system can be frustrating and time consuming, while introducing more security risks.
With Identity Manager Since the ID number is associated with an employee within Identity Manager, issuing a new card simply assigns a new number to the employee and, with the help of Data Sync, automatically deactivates the old card on all applications. The new card is encoded during the print process has all of the same permissions and information as the previous card, allowing it to instantly be used for all previous card applications. The old card is now rendered useless, as it is deactivated on all services. Keep in mind, all of this was done automatically by Identity Manager and Data Sync during the printing process for the new card, saving you time and money. With Identity Manager’s automatic management of active cards, you never have to worry about credential overflow again.
